Question: I have heard there is a surgical procedure for seizure patients. My 21y/o daughter has generalized seizures which began at age 15. what are the indicators if a patient should qualify for this and do you do this procedure.
Answer: There are surgical procedures for seizures. These procedures are usually reserved for the patient who is unable to be controlled on medications alone. Evaluation by a neurologist would be the first step to see if your daughter would benefit from this treatment. Seizure surgery is something which should be undertaken at a center with extensive experience with this type of procedure. Medical schools in either Little Rock or Memphis would be the best choice.
